MiniUSB to 3.5mm adapter for asus p320

Hi Guys,

I know this is not accessories forum sorry...but still i'm this question here since there no other dedicated forums for asus mobiles
I am searching for a miniUSB to 3.5mm adapter for connecting normal earphones to the phone...

There are plenty available for HTC phones and i'm sure ASUS has similar mini USB interface as HTC but problem is HTC have extUSB which has slightly different shape than regular miniUSB...extUSB pin is curved one side only unlike miniUSB which is curved at both ends...so it can not fit my phone



Are there anywhere selling miniUSB to 3.5mm adapter, which ship internationally and preferably having form factor without wires like this

man u are wrong asus p320 also has mini usb not ext usb i can use the same data cable of htc touch and same charger . so u can use that jack .

You can use the data cable and charger of HTC but not the head phones..you could also use the charger of motorola v6 (or some variant) but the headphones of asus p320 is unique, I have been searching for the past one year for a mini usb to 3.5mm stereo jack but in vain. I even tried in futility to cut a usb cable and solder its leads to the female end of 3.5mm stereo jack....didnt work

the p320 has miniUSB, HTC has extUSB...so adapters for HTC cannot be fit in p320...as extUSB jack is not compatible with miniUSB but vice versa is true i.e. miniUSB jack can fit in extUSB..

Simple cutting the miniUSB cable to get audio output won't work as ASUS also has extra pins for audio output like HTC (ie the 11 pin cable)...there's a guy on same other forum(thinkdigit forums) who has been using HTC adapter with p320 and it has been working fine...luckily he found a miniUSB htc adapter, most sold online are extUSB

what do you think of this adaptor? could it work?

^^if u look into the asus miniUSB port closely...u will see 11 pins...so i think its like htc's extUSB port..

Ok guys, i managed to fit the HTC adapter which i've bought for my asus by filing the extUSB to minUSB



it now fits. When i plug in the adaptor connected with an earphone i do get the handsfree icon on my phone....but when I play i don't get any sound in my earphones..
I fear the some of things i tried with the adapter before filing it may have damaged it, so there's no sound now...

Do you guys think it would work if I should get a new adapter and file it again since I do get the earphone icon on my device when i connect it?

Just because you are able to get the slot to fit and the number of pins match does not mean that the HTC and the Asus have the same pin configuration.

Could you give some details on which country you are in, how long did it take and how you paid ? Very tempted !

I'm from the Czech republic (EU). I made payment via paypal and it arrived in 7 days.

I've got the same adapter shipped to India and it took about 10 days to reach it...however I feel the cord of the adapter is quite long..

Hey thanks for the prompt replies Themafioso & O2, am going ahead with this but I have some questionss.

1. TheMafioso did you buy with headphone or the same as O2, if yes, how are the headphones ?

2. Since I have never used paypal before, did some reading up, the page says that you need to be verified paypal only. For verifying, does the $2 revert to your account of is it used for the next purchase or is it completely lost ?

3. Did either of you guys opt for that insurance ?

I've used paypal also for the first time:-) They charge your credit card $2 and after that they return $2 directly again to your credit card as cancelled payment.
So it's free - as a result you'll have a confirmed paypal account with balance of $0 and no change to your total credit card balance is done (-$2 and then +$2).
Then you can make your order. When you make payment via paypal, your credit card will be automatically charged that amount (so, you don't need to transfer money to your paypal account in advance).

I did not use the insurance, the goods came as a letter in a protective envelope with air-bubbles, I guess it's unprobable it would be damaged in transit.

I also did order without the headphones...the $8.99 ones and did not opt for insurance as I didn't see it earlier...otherwise I wud have
For me the $2 were not returned back to the card...but I was given credit of $2 in Paypal account which can be used to pay through Paypal later on...

Hey O2 / Mafioso, Thanks for the update I guess you guys understand all the apprehension for a first time user !

Looks like I won't get the $2 back like Mafioso being in India myself I'll just look at it as a $11 product and be done with it.
